Public Health & Community Education
AHECs evaluate and address the health needs of communities within and among the
regions and provide innovative, collaborative and multi-disciplinary responses
to those needs. AHECs provide community health education programs on timely
topics to promote healthy lifestyles and behaviors and prevent illness and
disease.
AHECs provide community education programs to include but not limited to:
- Bioterrorism and Emergency Preparedness
- Public Health Preparedness (West Nile Virus, Pandemic)
- Caregiver, Community Health Worker and Patient Navigator Training
- Prevention and Treatment of Obesity, Diabetes and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
- Healthy Aging in Rural Communities
- Coping with Cancer, Cardiopulmonary Disease, other chronic illnesses
- University of Colorado Mini-Medical School
